Built in 1914, this Stilesville bungalow needed a complete renovation that would support modern life without erasing the details that made the house worth saving.
BGW Construction coordinated the design, material selections and construction as one project. The work included a full kitchen remodel, a new upstairs primary suite, bathroom renovations, refinished hardwood floors and careful updates throughout the home.

A new kitchen with a sense of history
The kitchen was rebuilt with white shaker cabinetry, quartz countertops, a farmhouse apron sink and a navy center island. A copper pressed-tin ceiling brings warmth and texture to the room. When original brick was uncovered during demolition, it became part of the finished design rather than being concealed again.
An upstairs primary suite
The upper level had several small sleeping rooms but no bathroom or useful closets. Two rooms were combined to create a comfortable primary bedroom, a proper closet and a new bathroom. The suite includes a double vanity, a black-framed walk-in shower and a clawfoot tub fitted beneath the sloped ceiling.
Original details carried forward
The renovation preserved and refinished the home’s hardwood floors and original staircase. Arched openings and existing trim continue to define the main level. Deep paint colors, warm metal finishes and the newly exposed brick help the new work feel at home alongside the bungalow’s century-old details.
A complete renovation, planned as one home
Because the design, selections and construction were coordinated together, the kitchen, bathrooms, primary suite and shared living spaces feel connected. The finished bungalow is more functional and comfortable while still carrying the materials and craftsmanship that give it its identity.
