Hardscaping refers to the non-plant, structural elements of an outdoor space: retaining walls, paver patios and walkways, stone steps, seat walls, edging, and other masonry or structural landscape features. BGW designs and builds all of these.

Retaining walls above a certain height typically require permits. Paver patios usually do not, but rules vary by municipality. BGW handles permit coordination where required.

Not when the base is done right. Most paver problems come from a poorly prepared base, not the pavers. BGW installs on a properly compacted aggregate base with the right edge restraint and polymeric sand, which keeps pavers level and weed-free for decades. And if one ever shifts, a paver can be lifted and reset without replacing the whole surface.

Yes. Drainage and grading are part of hardscape work, and moving water away from your home and hardscape protects both. BGW evaluates how water flows across your yard and builds in grading, drains, and retaining features to solve standing water and erosion.
