Construction Process
Will I need to move out during remodeling?

It depends on the project. Many kitchen or bathroom remodels can be done while you remain in the home, though some disruption is expected. For larger renovations, temporary relocation may be recommended.
How do you handle permits and inspections?

BGW Construction manages all necessary permits and inspections to ensure compliance with building codes.
					 Do you use subcontractors?

This approach allows us to bring in the right experts for each phase of your project, ensuring top-quality work without the cost of keeping specialists on payroll year-round. All work is carefully overseen and managed by BGW Construction project managers, so you can be confident in the craftsmanship and accountability from start to finish.

Project Costs & Expectations
What is a ballpark cost per square foot for an addition in Central Indiana?

Every addition is unique, but a realistic range in our area is typically $150–$300+ per square foot. It’s important to note that “per square foot pricing” is a notoriously inefficient way to budget—the final cost depends heavily on the size, complexity, and level of finishes you select.
This range applies specifically to additions. Basements and renovations that don’t involve adding square footage often fall lower on a per-square-foot basis, but costs vary widely depending on the agreed-upon scope of work. There’s no universal price per square foot for renovations, since every company brings a different level of finish, craftsmanship, and material quality to the table.
After your initial consultation and design, we’ll provide a clear, detailed estimate tailored to your home and goals.
What factors most affect the cost of my remodel?

The biggest drivers of cost are structural changes, plumbing/electrical relocations, and custom finishes. If you’re looking to keep costs down, working within the existing layout and choosing mid-range finishes can help. We’ll walk you through options so you understand how each decision impacts your budget.
Communication & Process
How often will I receive updates?

You’ll receive daily updates through our mobile app, complete with logs of the work completed that day—including photos and a short narrative. In addition, we provide a weekly big-picture look-ahead, so you’ll know what to expect in the coming week.
Your project manager is also available anytime if you have questions or concerns, so you’ll never feel left in the dark.
Who will be my main point of contact during construction?

You’ll be assigned a dedicated BGW project manager who will oversee your remodel from start to finish. They’ll coordinate our trade partners, keep the schedule on track, and serve as your go-to resource throughout the process.
Design & Permits
Do I need to hire an architect separately?

No. BGW is a design-build firm, which means we handle both design and construction under one roof. If additional engineering or architectural input is needed, we coordinate that for you. This keeps the process seamless and eliminates the need for you to juggle multiple contractors.
Will BGW handle HOA approvals or zoning checks?

BGW will prepare the documents but the HOA’s expect to hear from the homeowner. BGW will take care of all permitting with the city/town/county.
Living Through a Remodel
How do you minimize dust and disruption in my home?

We take extra steps to protect your home during construction. That includes plastic barriers, floor protection, HEPA vacuums, and daily clean-up. Our crews respect your space and work to keep disruptions as minimal as possible.
What happens if weather delays the project?

Weather is a factor in Indiana, especially for exterior work. We build realistic schedules and buffer time into our planning. If weather impacts progress, we’ll communicate quickly, adjust the schedule, and keep you informed every step of the way.
After Completion
What happens at the final walkthrough?

At the end of your project, we’ll do a comprehensive walkthrough together. We’ll create a punch list if anything needs final touches, and we won’t call it complete until you’re fully satisfied.
Do you offer maintenance plans or annual check-ins?

While we don’t currently offer a formal maintenance plan, we’re always available if questions or issues arise after your project. Many clients invite us back for future projects, and we’re happy to help with advice, adjustments, or warranty concerns anytime down the road.
